The "Waterfront" part is a bit of a stretch, but the café is genius. It’s basically a shrine to post-swim hunger. You can sit in your towel, hair dripping onto a soggy menu, and order a mug of tea that tastes faintly of plastic. It’s heaven.
The best people-watching happens here. You’ll see a kid with pruned fingers downing a Capri-Sun, while their parent just stares into the middle distance. That parent is you in about six months. The toast is always slightly burnt, but nobody cares because you just conquered the deep end.
The Sauna and Steam Room: Communion
The steam room is where social rules dissolve. You’ll be sitting in a cloud of hot, damp silence next to a stranger, and it’s perfectly okay. Nobody talks. It’s like a meditation class for people who don’t do meditation. You just sit there, breathing in steam that smells faintly of eucalyptus and other people.
Wet n Wild Waterfront Leisure Centre | Woolwich | Plan Your Visit
The sauna is a different beast. It’s always either empty or full of people who look suspiciously competitive about sitting still. You will try to last eight minutes, then bail to the cold shower like a coward. The cold shower is agony, but you feel like a Viking for half a second.
