I tested a few so you don’t have to. The AquaBliss High Output Shower Filter is the MVP for most people. It installs in ten seconds flat, costs less than a pizza night, and uses a multi-stage system that removes chlorine, heavy metals, and even weird smells. My skin stopped screaming within two showers.

If you want the Rolls-Royce of filters, get the Sprite HO2-WH-C. It’s bulky, yes—like a spaceship attachment—but it’s so effective that my dog stopped sneezing when I showered. Plus, it has a replaceable cartridge that lasts six months, which means you only have to remember to change it twice a year.
For the minimalist (or the renter), there’s the PureAction Shower Filter. It’s small, clear, and looks like a glass of water hanging from your pipe. It doesn’t remove as much as the others, but it’s dirt cheap and still leaves my hair softer than a marshmallow.
The “Installation” Horror Story (It’s Not That Bad)

Unscrew your old showerhead, wrap the filter’s threads with Teflon tape (the white stuff that looks like dental floss for plumbers), and screw the filter on. Then attach your old showerhead to the filter. That’s it. Even my grandma could do it, and she once tried to fix her phone with a screwdriver.
