If you need 100+ gallons a day—say, you run a commercial cleaning business or are secretly building a fusion reactor—consider a whole-house reverse osmosis + DI system. This is the nuclear option.
These systems can cost thousands of dollars and require a dedicated space in your garage, plus a plumber who doesn’t laugh at your ambition. But you’ll get water so pure it’s basically a sad, lonely molecule on a journey by itself.
Best places: buy directly from SpectraPure or GE Water Filtration. Or get a used one on Craigslist from a guy who swears it’s “like new” but has moss growing on the hoses. Buyer beware—literally.
