I know—when someone says “install under sink,” you picture greasy nightmares and a missing wrench. But the best modern units are practically plug-and-play. Many come with color-coded tubes, quick-connect fittings, and a video tutorial that doesn’t make you cry. You can absolutely do this, and you’ll feel like a superhero plumber when that first pure drip hits your glass.
Plus, you’ll save a small fortune on bottled water. No more lugging heavy, crinkly jugs from the grocery store. Your back and the planet will both send you a thank-you card.
But wait, doesn’t it waste a lot of water?
Great question! Older systems did have a bit of a greedy streak. But today’s best under sink RO filters use advanced membranes that waste far less—some even boast a 1:1 ratio of pure to reject water. That’s right, you get a river of clean water with barely a trickle down the drain. Mother Nature just nodded in approval.

And that reject water? It’s totally fine for watering your plants or cleaning your floors. You’re not wasting a drop; you’re just giving your greens a little extra mineral spa day.
