The absolute best move is the “Pre-Easter Thursday Dash.” That’s the real pro-tip. On the Thursday before Good Friday, Sainsbury’s is open late, and it’s the golden window. Grab your essentials: the big tray of hot cross buns, a leg of lamb, the posh butter, and at least three bags of Cadbury’s Mini Eggs. Stock up like a squirrel preparing for a very delicious winter.
If you miss that window, your next best bet is Easter Saturday. Sainsbury’s is open normal hours on Saturday. Go early. The Sunday panic-shoppers will already be there, eyeing the last packet of sausages with the intensity of a hawk. Saturday is for the calm, collected shoppers. Sunday is for the regretful.
The Good Friday Twist
Here’s a common trap. People assume if Easter Sunday is closed, Good Friday must be too. Wrong! Large Sainsbury’s stores are open on Good Friday, but with reduced hours. Think 8am to 8pm. It’s a lifeline. If you forget the stuffing on Friday, you’re saved. If you forget the stuffing on Sunday… well, my neighbour would like to offer you a Quaver.
And let’s not forget Easter Monday. That’s another weird one. Most large Sainsbury’s are closed on Easter Monday as well. It’s a four-day weekend from a shopping perspective, so your Thursday shop is basically planning a tiny military operation. A tasty, chocolatey military operation.
