Labor Day has its roots in the late 19th century, when workers were fighting for better working conditions and more leisure time. The first Labor Day was celebrated in 1882, and it was meant to be a day of rest and relaxation for workers. Over time, it became a federal holiday, and its date was fixed as the first Monday in September.
So, why September? Well, it's partly because the weather is usually still warm in September, making it a great time for outdoor barbecues and picnics. It's also a good time to reflect on the past year and think about the future. And let's be real, who doesn't love a long weekend?
But what's really cool about Labor Day is that it's not just about parties and sales. It's also a time to think about the history of the labor movement and the people who fought for workers' rights. It's like Black Friday, but instead of just shopping, we're celebrating the people who make our country run.
