Ready for the magic? Grab four to six regular Lipton tea bags. Not the fancy ones. Just the yellow-label classics. Drop them into a heatproof pitcher.

Boil four cups of water. Pour that hot, angry water right over the bags. Let them steep for exactly five to seven minutes. Not ten. Not “when I remember.” Set a timer.

Pull the bags out. Don’t squeeze them too hard or you release bitter tannins. We’re making tea, not emotional turmoil. Then add four cups of cold water.

That’s it. That’s the base. A gallon of glorious, amber-colored Lipton. Now, here’s where you get to play mad scientist.

The Sugar Question (Don’t Overthink It)

Some people want theirs sweet enough to rot a tooth. Others want it so tart it makes their face pucker. Are you a northern “unsweetened” purist or a southern “sweet tea” devotee?

If you’re going sweet, stir in ¾ to 1 cup of sugar while the tea is still hot. The heat dissolves it better than any fancy syrup. I like to add a tiny pinch of baking soda too—wild, right? It cuts any bitterness.

For a clean, crisp taste? Skip the sweetener. Just ice and lemon. You do you, friend.
